Grand Piano Concert

Grand Piano Concert

Kennesaw State University in Georgia will host a gala concert featuring five Steinway grand pianos, along with the KSU Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble on March 19. The concert is in honor of Dr. Bobbie Bailey's gift of Steinway and Sons pianos to the university and to the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

Back in 2007 Dr. Bailey donated the first Steinway D concert grand piano to the school, but she surprised college officials at the opening concert with her plans to donate an additional 26 Steinway pianos, earning Kennesaw State an All-Steinway School designation. Four of these pianos are named in honor of member's of Bailey's family: "Miss Mary" for her mother, "Mr. Elbert" for her father, "Miss Ann" for a friend and "Mr. Henry" for her grandfather. Since the school has become an All Steinway School, they have seen a steady increase in the visibility of the School of Music. It is helping them to recruit the most gifted faculty and students.
